Objetivos
Make the present voting system compatible with automated recounting.
Plan de acción / Actividades
The major milestones in the implementation of the Demotek© system have been: Year 2000 - Sociological study in the CAPV (Basque Region) with a view to testing the social acceptance of the system. - International Forums held in Donostia-San Sebastián and Bolivia, with the aim of presenting the system to the international community. - Different presentations to the Electoral Administrations, political parties, public institutions, the media and university scientific communities in Spain as well as abroad. Year 2001 - Elections to the Permanent Commission of the Bilbao Engineering College Board. - The elections for President and Directors of Athletic Club de Bilbao football club. Year 2002 - Union elections for the workers committee of IKUSI. - Elections for the Management Staff of the University of the Basque Country. Year 2003 - Electoral process for the approval of the Statutes of the University of the Basque Country. - Pilot scheme in the autonomic elections in Catalunya. - Presentation of Demotek© to the Senate Commission in charge of analysing electronic voting. Year 2004 - Elections for the Rector of the University of the Basque Country, carried out in two stages, on the 24th March and the 1st April, with an electorate of approximately 60,000, spread throughout 39 centres located in the three Basque Provinces, with the vote being weighted in the four sectors which the electorate was divided into.

Desarrollo
The system was developed by a group of leading companies in the new technologies sector, with the technical support of the Basque Technology Network Centres and the University of the Basque Country, the Basque Government being the sole owner of the patent as well as of the system?s trademark.
