Accessibility for people with disabilities and e-Inclusion

ICTs can provide skills to people with special needs, giving them autonomy, independence and access to services that they did not always have. It is for this reason that ICTs should be essentially directed towards two objectives: to supplement shortfalls and above all, to boost skills.

ICTs need to be adapted to be useful for people with disabilities. ICTs are valuable tools not only as a solution to problems considered basic by this group of people, but also as a means of guaranteeing inclusion in cultural, artistic, sports and leisure fields as well.

e-Inclusion is a social movement whose mission is to eliminate the digital divide (the gap that exists between people who use Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) as a routine part of their daily life and those who do not have access to those technologies and those who have access but do not know how to use them.

There are various elements that nurture this divide. Poverty, differences of race, lack of education, lack of suitable contents for people that have recently discovered technology and, finally, infrastructure problems.
